Cotton Duck

After 30 years of almost continuous use my Carradice Super C rear panniers have finally worn out. I looked at various makes and spoke to other cyclists eventually concluding that cotton duck was still my preferred material especially as they will be used daily. I camp, tour and do do much of the shopping and was drawn to the larger capacity of the recumbent panniers (I own a recumbent) My most frequently used bike, a Thorn Nomad, has long chain stays and can accommodate recumbent panniers. I liked the larger capacity and the flat uniform shape of their base, avoids spillage. The four external pockets are brilliant larger than my original pair of panniers. The straps for attaching external loads are long and easily adjustable. Carradice have obviously spent time improving the design over the years: the gusset at the top is much broader and closes completely, the finish is tidier, the strap that enables the panniers to be carried as a pair is cool. Adjusting the fixing was a bit of a faff and the I would have liked a way of locking the panniers to the rack. Because of the height of the Carradice Quick-Clip Pannier Hooks I am unable to use my detachable rack bag at the moment. I am very pleased with my purchase and am looking forward to the next three decades of cycling with my panniers. Many thanks

2nd time around still good

I've had my original 2001 Super C Recumbent panniers rebuilt twice locally. The local guy who rebuilt them added shoulder strap D-rings at the side pocket lid seams at the main body that have been a huge help. (See photo of blue rebuild.) I'd recommend this mod and I'd have given the panniers 5 stars with that mod. I'm now on my third set of rack clips. I like the new clip system already. I decided to treat myself to a 2nd set of Super C 'bent Panniers that I'll dedicate to touring. The new set have already done 400km starting off in a snowstorm with no mudguards. Everything stayed dry. They are being used on a 2001 Greenspeed GTVs6 convertible tandem trike and a 2003 Vision R-40 SWB USS bike (shown)(also on a Burley Koosah and two Iowa Linears).
