Excellent system

The SQR system for saddlebags is great. You can buy the individual parts of the system if you already have it on one bike so that you can use a saddlebag on another bike.

Is Carradice reactive to customers?

So, here we go again. Several customers, including myself twice, have made generally positive remarks about the SQR system of saddlebag attachment, but there are criticisms, and it's clear there is room for improvement. But there is no reaction from Carradice. That's a shame. What's the point of giving space for customer reviews if nothing changes and there is no evolution of the products based on customers' opinions? I would have thought that the company would have taken these opinions and experiences in a postitive manner.

SQR system weight issue

I have posted previously about this. I have also messaged directly to Carradice on this issue, but have not received a reply. The SQR system is a big improvement cf the QR system for the larger saddlebags, because the SQR system facilitates the full use of the larger saddlebags. The QR system support was, frankly, badly designed for the larger saddlebags, as with this system the bottom support element just doesn't allow the use of a fully loaded large camper saddlebag. That's to say, the kind of packing one would use for a short/medium cycling tour. The only alternative is to revert to a leather strap fixed to the seatpost. So the SQR system has solved this (bravo!).
The problem is the weight of the metal bag element that Carradice have produced. It is a heavy chunk of metal that adds regretable grams, and if, at an extra cost, an element in carbon or titanium could have been proposed I would definitely been prepared to pay the extra.

Were promising solution

Were promising solution. My only issue is side to side movement and noise it creates. If this issue can be eliminated this is going to be were good system. For now I stuck two pieces of gaffer tape on a sides. Not long term solution but it works. I will say this system is a move in a right direction for Carradice. Keep trying! Thank you very much! Kind regards Andrej

good system with room for improvement

The concept of the SQR system is great, especially if you want to use your saddlebag on multiple bikes. Bag (de)attaching is done in 2 seconds, it can hold up 10 kg and without the bag the remaining block is much lighter and prettier than an empty bagman.

But it should be considered that larger saddle bags (I use a Nelson LF) bend around the skinny frame when they aren't full. And the bag swings significantly during riding, especially when you go out of the saddle.
I have solved this issue by a thin plastic stiffener inside the bag which I have fixed to the frame through the cotton duck. Now it is solid like the SQR Slim or Tour.
I wish Carradice would offer an SQR frame which also has a rail to support the bag from below. This would combine the benefits of the SQR and the bagman without modification of the saddlebag.
