Weekender & Box. Our New Brompton Bags

This year, we’re excited to launch a brand-new collection developed exclusively for Brompton bikes: the Weekender and the Box.

At Carradice, we’re proud of our long tradition of cycle luggage that’s built to last. Over the years, our products have found their way onto the bikes of commuters, tourers, and adventurers globally. But one of our most enduring collaborations has been with another icon of British cycling: Brompton

For two decades - or more - we’ve produced Brompton bags specifically designed for the world’s most famous folding bike. And just as Brompton transformed the way people move through the city, we’ve made it easier for those riders to carry everything they need – in all weathers, with the reassurance of quality and durability.

This year, we’re excited to launch a brand-new collection developed exclusively for Brompton bikes: the Weekender and the Box, featuring two colours and a new material for robust, waterproof travel with your trusty folding bike. Here’s a more conversational look at our new Brompton Bags

The New Carradice Brompton Bag Range

Brompton Weekender Bags (10L & 17L)

The larger of the two new Brompton bags, the Weekender, has been designed for urban commuters and weekend explorers. Available in a smaller 10L and larger 17L size, the Weekender combines waterproof protection, practical roll-top design, and reinforced durability.

With a new block plate and Correx (that’s a super durable plastic material) back plate for stability, plus reflective detailing and a comfortable shoulder strap, it’s as reliable off the bike as it is on it.

For the eagle-eyed amongst you, you’ll notice that the larger of the two Weekender variants is similar in size to our existing Stockport Satchel. There are other similarities, too. Both bags are waterproof, and both come with a shoulder strap. However, with the Weekender, we’ve worked hard behind the scenes to create a new Carradice metal block fitting, integral to the bag, which is compatible with Brompton’s front carrier block.

And if material detail is your literal bag, it's worth pointing out that the Weekender is constructed from durable polyester, whereas the Stockport is made from trusty cotton duck.

Of course, the heritage appeal of the Stockport and its sister product, the City Folder, isn’t diminished by the arrival of the Weekender. The contrasting straps and metal buckles give those two bags a timeless, classic look - a fantastic alternative to the more contemporary Weekender Brompton Bag.

The Weekender is compatible with all Brompton bikes, but we think it’d be particularly appealing to those riding Brompton’s new larger-wheeled G-Line. Pad the same roads to and from work during the week, before searching for pastures new on Saturday and Sunday.

Brompton Box (5L)

The more compact Box is a perfect Brompton bag for everyday rides. Its rigid body is a nod to classic touring handlebar bags - a structurally sound storage area that you’d feel comfortable carrying previous items in.

Off bike, the Box works too - thanks to the included shoudler strap. Image: Markus Stitz

The simple elasticated storm lid is easy to secure shut, and if you do need to open the Box to get access on the go, it closes (and clips) towards the handlebars of your Brompton. Inside the main section, we’ve included some internal storage dividers to help you keep items separate.

With the Brompton Box, we’ve also added a front pocket to offer even more organisational options. And like the Weekender bag, the Brompton Box is available in two colours - the ‘go-with-anything’ black and the bolder, earthier Olive - a colour that’s exclusive to this new range of Brompton bags.

Like all Carradice bike bags, both of the new Brompton bags are handmade in Nelson and built to fit seamlessly with Brompton’s front carrier block system.

These bags deliver the durability of waterproofing and style that today’s Brompton riders expect and we can’t wait to see them out in town and country.
